Marans  is located off the west coast of France. The French developed the breed as dual purpose with good table as well as laying properties. The majority of the British Marans are cuckoo colouredand range from dark grey to silver and white legs. The most notable characteristic of this very hardy chicken is it's chocolate brown, egg colour and succulent meat.
